Wine Barrel Creations sure to spruce up any Decor

How did we get started? Good question. I guess this all started with my Chris. He grew up in the country-side of Flagstaff, AZ. His construction education began when he and his dad literally built their family’s home. From there he began leading framing crews and home renovation projects around town.
After we met and married, we started our own remodel business where Chris even crafted all the cabinetry and performed all the finish work. He is just SO talented and was truly meant to be a woodworker. After moving the business to Houston, we began thinking more about retail & farmhouse tables and less about tearing down walls and moving electrical. We had so many plans, dreams and ideas. Literally, in the blink of an eye, Chris had arranged a tractor trailer load of wine barrels to arrive from Napa Valley to our woodshop. I would say that was the moment, Katy Barrel Company, was born. Within 10 days we attended our first trade show with a short product line. We spent the next 3 years learning, designing, improving and fine tuning our craft of wine barrel furnishings. But something just seemed to be missing.
It just wasn’t personal enough. We were not just barrel people and we did not want to be just a barrel company.
We just felt a little disconnected. We heard a line from the poem, Good Timber, and it struck a chord. Chris and I quickly looked it up and read the entire thing. We were taken immediately.
That poem changed us. It represented all that we are, all that we want to become, and all that we want to share. It has been incredible to see the transformation take place since our change in name a focus. We opened our retail location in Waco, TX in August of 2017 and love being a part of the Waco community and growth.
